When you join CRST, you are paid 70% of the gross revenue on each load plus 97% of the fuel surcharge. The fuel surcharge is based on the national fuel price, which ensures that even in times of soaring fuel prices, you will be able to hold your profit margins and, in many cases, increase them.
LET'S GET STARTEDOur freight is almost entirely No Touch and Drop and Hook. It’s also mostly single pick-up, single delivery, and customer-handled. This means you will spend the majority of your time behind the wheel, earning more money!
ACCEPTING AND ALSO TURNING DOWN LOADS
The big money is made by accepting loads and there's no way around it. The revenue to the truck is what's it's all about and you're now a small business. Would you tell a customer to go away? No, of course not, so saying yes to a load is the key to success. You can say no too. We all need to now and then, but think like a business and consider the load your customer and you'll do just fine and see six plus figure earnings.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON SMALL EXPENSES.
As an OO, the little things are what eat your profits. Fuel will probably be your biggest expense outside of your lease payment. You want a fuel-surcharge program like CRST's that's paying 97%. Fuel costs vary, so keep aware. Make a list of items you must have, like food, and one's you don't, like desert, and give yourself a budget.
DON'T BE TOO PROUD TO ASK FOR HELP.
CRST is a nationwide team of truckers working together and you've got a lot more friends on the road than you may ever realize. Got a tax question, other OO's will help. Unsure of maintenance costs, tap into the network and you'll be a pro giving advice to new owners soon enough. And remember, being a beginner is a good thing, just make sure to learn from the trial and errors.
